Weatherwise is a magazine published by the American Meteorological Society. One issue gives a rating system used to classify Nor'easter storms that frequently hit New England and can cause much damage near the ocean. A severe storm has an average peak wave height of μ = 16.4 feet for waves hitting the shore.
David M. Ludlum started the magazine Weatherwise, which was first published by Heldref Publications in Washington, DC, but is currently distributed by Taylor & Francis Group. It is the only popular press periodical in the United States that does so, covering weather and climate for weather enthusiasts as well as meteorologists and climatologists. Large color images that show off the strength, beauty, and thrill of weather are used to richly illustrate it. Articles on the newest findings and subjects in meteorology are published, and they are typically written by professionals in the relevant field.
