Mary owned n sheep and Sam had exactly 4 times as many sheep as Mary. Mary buys 17 extra sheep and Sam sells 8 of his sheep. Sam

still has more sheep than Mary. Form an inequality, in terms of n. Solve the inequality to find the least value of n. You must show all your working.

Number of sheep Mary owned = n

Number of sheep Sam owned = 4n

Mary buys 17 extra sheep, so n+17

Sam sells 8 of his sheep so 4n-8

Inequality becomes,

4n-8\geqn+17

Solving the inequality we get,

n\geq \frac{25}{3}

Answer:

The least value of n is, 9.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let n be the number of sheep in Integer.

Mary(M) owned the number of sheep is n i.e, M = n sheep

Sam(S) had exactly four times as many sheep as Mary , i.e, S = 4 n sheep

As per the given condition Mary buys 17 extra sheep

Now, Mary has total number of sheep, M = n +17 sheep

And Sam sells 8 of his sheep that means he has now,

S = 4n -8

But, Sam still has more sheep than Mary i.e,  4n-8 > n+17

Solve an inequality: 4n-8 > n+17

Add 8 both sides we get;

4n-8+8>n+17+8

Simplify:

4n>n+25

Now, subtract n from both the side, we get;

4n -n>n+25-n

Simplify:

3n>25 or n>\frac{25}{3}=8.33333333

Since n is the number of sheep in integer,

then the least value of n is, 9.

pioneers are buying mules to trek across the country. each of the 5 wagons require e mules to pull them. write the equation to e
tekilochka [14]

Answer:

d = 5e

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of wagons = 5

Number of miles per wagon = e

Total number of mules = d

Hence, relationship between total mules d needed will be ;

Total mules = number of wagons * Numbe rof mules per wagon

d = 5e

Find the total amount due on a simple interest loan if the principal is 1500 with a rate of 7% for 4years assume one payment is
vredina [299]

Answer:

=$1920

Step-by-step explanation:

1. simple interest = (principle × rate × time) ÷ 100

principal: amount of money borrowed

rate: percentage at which you are to pay

time: timeframe in which u ought to repay

calculate what is in the brackets first

2. plug in the values

($1500×7×4)÷100 = $420

*calculate what is in the brackets first*

3. add the amount received when finished caluculating[in this case $420] to the original principal

4. $1500+$420=1$920

Find the vertex of the function given below. Y=3x^2+6x+1
Natalka [10]

Answer:

B

Step-by-step explanation:

Given a parabola in standard form

y = ax² + bx + c ( a ≠ 0 )

Then the x- coordinate of the vertex is

x = - \frac{b}{2a}

y = 3x² + 6x + 1 ← is in standard form

with a = 3 and b = 6 , then

x_{vertex} = - \frac{6}{6} = - 1

Substitute x = - 1 into y for corresponding y- coordinate

y = 3(- 1)² + 6(- 1) + 1

  = 3(1) - 6 + 1

  = 3 - 5

  = - 2

vertex = (- 1, - 2 )
