The signal word that provides an antonym context clue is the following:

Despite

Why is "despite" the correct signal word?

In this exercise, you have to select the signal word that provides an antonym context clue.

From the list of words given, the correct one is "despite". For example, you can see how despite is used in the following sentence:

"Despite all my work, I still failed the exam."

When you use the other words, "idolized", "rapidly", "recent", you do not expect anything negative or an antonym clue next.

What are signal words and how do you use them?

Signal words are words or phrases that can give you the idea that something is expected to come next.

Signal words are related to traffic signals because traffic signals show you what is expected to happen next in traffic.

Why did the war time alliance between the soviet union and the west crumble after ww2?
Nezavi [6.7K]
Although relations between the Soviet Union and the United States had been strained in the years before World War II, the U.S.-Soviet alliance of 1941–1945 was marked by a great degree of cooperation and was essential to securing the defeat of Nazi Germany. Without the remarkable efforts of the Soviet Union on the Eastern Front, the United States and Great Britain would have been hard pressed to score a decisive military victory over Nazi Germany.

Explain in one paragraph how a Buddhist would address the problems caused by suffering.
scoray [572]
We create attachments to events causing us problems. When we are driving down the road and someone cuts us off we are so frustrated shouting things at them. We are upset although we are choosing to be upset despite nothing really happening and most times you won’t have a good day because they cut you off and you’re upset. We essentially cause ourselves suffering although there is no need for it. Because we create attachments to situations we create our own suffering.
