To find the values of each line on a number line. You find two points (e.g -6 and -5) and then you count how many lines there are in-between these points (in this case 10). So then you divide the difference in-between your two points (in this case -1) and divide it by however many lines there are (10). So 1/10 = 0.1/0.10. So each line on this number line are worth 0.1/0.10.
So to find -5.85 you can either go backwards from -6 or forward from -5. If you count up to -5.80 or down to -5.90, you'll then find Point A in-between both of these numbers. And as -5.85 is the mid point between -5.90 and -5.80, point A is the answer
