The New York Times first reported on the Tulsa Massacre on June 2, 1921. Start by looking at the headline from that day: “85 Whi

tes and Negroes Die in Tulsa Riots as 3,000 Armed Men Battle in Streets” (PDF). What do you notice about the language and framing of what happened as it is articulated in the headline? If you were reading the paper in 1921, what would you have first assumed happened?

The thing that can be easily noticed in the headline based on the language and framing of what happened as it is articulated in the headline is that they were deeply racist.

This is because they used the word "negro", a condescending and racist term to describe a black man that died in a riot, but in that period of history in 1921, this was considered to be normal, as there was racial segregation of a very high magnitude,

What is a valid distinction between Roman Catholicism and eastern orthodoxy?
Novay_Z [31]

Even though, Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy are very similar they held a few differences like their beliefs of the original sin, the language held in the services, or status in the church. These two religions are very similar, but they have a huge difference among themselves; the Pope.

Catholics believe in the Pope, the selected one who will give the word to the Catholic church. The one who will overrule any other lower-ranked member of the church. The Orthodox church has the "highest bishop", he is considered the first among equals, we could say he is the Orthodox Pope although, the highest bishop does not overrule other churches.

In conclusion, a valid distinction between Catholicism and Orthodox is the highest raked member of the church, rather Pope or Highest Bishop.

Why did Solon leave his position of archon?
Tanya [424]

Answer:

Some asked Solon to remain in power as a tyrant to explain and perhaps change what he had decreed. But he believed that it was now up to the Athenians, not him, to make the new system work. Thus, Solon reinforced his idea about citizen responsibility. He then left Athens and traveled outside Greece for 10 years.
