A power that the Senate possesses that the House of Representatives does NOT is the power under the Constitution, the House of Representatives has the power to impeach government officials who are effectively public prosecutors. The Senate has the sole power to conduct impeachment trials and essentially acts as a jury and judge.

The Senate has the sole power to confirm presidential appointments requiring approval and to advise on and approve the ratification of treaties. However, he has two exceptions to this rule. The House must also approve the appointment of the Vice President and treaties affecting foreign trade.

The House has the power to impeach (formal) impeachment while the Senate does. In addition, the Senate approves treaties and certain presidential appointments, such as ambassadors and Supreme Court justices.
