In angiosperms, the ovule and the surrounding sporophyte tissue collectively comprise the <u>ovary</u>.

The ovary contains ovules, which develop into seeds upon fertilization. The ovary itself will mature into a fruit, either dry or fleshy, enclosing the seeds.

The ovary itself is usually enclosed in a flower, that part of the angiospermous plant that contains the male or female reproductive organs or both(sporophyte tissue). Fruits are derived from the maturing floral organs of the angiospermous plant and are therefore characteristic of angiosperms

The bottom of the pistil contains the ovary and the narrowed region in between is called the style.
