While a kiss on the cheek in some Hispanic cultures is seen as a normal part of greeting someone, greeting someone other than your lover with a kiss on the cheek can be seen as odd and unusual in our culture. In our culture, we shake hands to meet someone. Especially someone we don't know or a business colleague. Some people, depending on their profession, salute people such as police officers or military personnel. However, our culture still shows affection, we greet friends with a hug often times and lovers with a kiss to the cheek. I feel that this tradition has not changed in my experience.
