A football field is 360 feet long and 160 feet wide. The principal is making an evacuation plan for the school. How many student

s can the principal expect to fit on the football field in an emergency? (Remember the expected floor space a standing person occupies is about 2.5 sq feet)

Answer:

23,040 students

Step-by-step explanation:

The football field is 360 feet long and 160 feet wide. To calculate the area, we multiply those 2 numbers:

360 * 160 = 57,600²

Now considering that the expected floor space a person occupies is 2.5 sq feet, we divide 57,600 by 2.5:

57,600/2.5 = 23,040

So 23,040 students can fit on the football field.

DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

z=\frac{0.384-0.362}{\sqrt{0.374(1-0.374)(\frac{1}{4276}+\frac{1}{3908})}}=2.055

The p value can be calculated from the alternative hypothesis with this probability:

p_v =2*P(Z>2.055)=0.0399

And the best option for this case would be:

C. between 0.01 and 0.05.

Step-by-step explanation:

Information provided

X_{1}=1642 represent the number of smokers from the sample in 1995

X_{2}=1415 represent the number of smokers from the sample in 2010

n_{1}=4276 sample from 1995

n_{2}=3908 sample from 2010

p_{1}=\frac{1642}{4276}=0.384 represent the proportion of smokers from the sample in 1995

p_{2}=\frac{1415}{3908}=0.362 represent the proportion of smokers from the sample in 2010

\hat p represent the pooled estimate of p

z would represent the statistic

p_v represent the value for the pvalue

System of hypothesis

We want to test the equality of the proportion of smokers and the system of hypothesis are:

Null hypothesis:p_{1} = p_{2}

Alternative hypothesis:p_{1} \neq p_{2}

The statistic is given by:

z=\frac{p_{1}-p_{2}}{\sqrt{\hat p (1-\hat p)(\frac{1}{n_{1}}+\frac{1}{n_{2}})}}   (1)

Where \hat p=\frac{X_{1}+X_{2}}{n_{1}+n_{2}}=\frac{1642+1415}{4276+3908}=0.374

Replacing the info given we got:

z=\frac{0.384-0.362}{\sqrt{0.374(1-0.374)(\frac{1}{4276}+\frac{1}{3908})}}=2.055

The p value can be calculated from the alternative hypothesis with this probability:

p_v =2*P(Z>2.055)=0.0399

And the best option for this case would be:

C. between 0.01 and 0.05.

Bluesky air has the best on-time arrival rate with 80% of its flights arriving on time. a test is conducted by randomly selectin
Lemur [1.5K]
This is a binomial distribution where 80% of flights arrive on time (p = 0.8) and 20% do not (q = 1 - 0.8 = 0.2). Then the probability that exactly 2 flights arrive late follows the formula:
(nCr)(p^r)(q^(n-r)), where n = 16 (total # of flights), r = 14 (flights that arrive on time)
(16C14)(0.8^14)(0.2^2) = 0.2111

I can’t figure out what it is asking. How do you find where each line crosses the y-axis?..
EleoNora [17]
They want you to find the y intercept. This is the point where the curve or line crosses the y axis. To find the y intercept, plug in x = 0

y = 3x+4
y = 3*x + 4
y = 3*0 + 4 ... notice x has been replaced with 0
y = 0 + 4
y = 4

So when x = 0, the value of y is y = 4. This means the y intercept is located at the point (0,4). This is all for problem 1. Problem 2 is handled much the same way.
