Lighter values of a hue are called tints<span>. They are created by adding the neutral </span>color<span>of white to the hue. Darker values are known as </span>shades<span>, created by adding black, another neutral </span>color<span>. When both white and black (grey) are added to a hue, the result is a diluted version of the hue called a tone.</span>
