Arvind Saxena, an Indian Postal Service employee from the 1978 batch, has been named as the commission's acting chairman (UPSC). Vinay Mittal will be replaced once his tenure ends on June 19.
According to Article 316, the President shall appoint the Chairman and other members of the Union Public Service Commission. If the position of Chairman becomes empty, one of the other members of the Commission may be appointed by the President to fill the vacancy.
The Union Public Service Commission, often known as UPSC, is India's top central hiring organisation for the selection of all Group 'A' officers employed by the Indian government. All Group "A" positions in all union government establishments, which also includes all central public sector organisations and all central autonomous bodies, are subject to its nomination and examination processes.
