Answer:

D(0,5) F(-3, -4) E(4, -3)

Step-by-step explanation:

3 units horizontally means that you should add 3 to each of the respective x coordinates. since D looks to be at (-3, 5) then you would make the new point (I'll call it D1) at D1 (-3 + 3, 5) or (0, 5). Do the same for all other points!

Hey there!
When you are translating something on a graph, things can get complicated. I'm here to help!

Translating <em>3 points horizontally </em> means that every point on this triangle stated in this graph moves 3 points to the left or right, since horizontal means that. The problem doesn't reiterate whether a direction is included, so let's just worry about the right.

Moving 3 points to the right means that the x coordinate of the points gain 3.
D-> (-3, 5) -> Add 3 to the x coordinate -> D' -> (0, 5)
E-> (1, -3) -> Add 3 to the x coordinate -> E' -> (4, -3)
F-> (-6, -4) -> Add 3 to the x coordinate -> F' -> (-3, -4)

Note that the y-coordinate of the points remain unchanged and the altered translated points are labelled with the prime symbol, shown as ' which means that they are translated from the original graph.

Attached is the image that you should be getting when finished with your translations.

Hope this helped!

Roberto rowed 20 miles downstream in 2.5 hours. The trip back, however, took him 5 hours. Find the rate that Roberto rows in sti
almond37 [142]

Answer:

<em>Roberto's speed in still water is 6 miles/hour and the river speed is 2 miles/hour</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Relative Speed</u>

When a body is moving at a constant speed v, the distance traveled in a time t is:

d=v.t

When Roberto rows downstream, his speed in still water is added to the speed of the water, making it easier to travel the required distance.

When Roberto rows upstream, his speed in still water is affected by the speed of the water, both are subtracted and the required distance is covered in more time.

Let's call

x = Roberto's rowing speed in still water

y = Speed of the river current

The speed when rowing downstream is x+y, thus the distance traveled is

d=(x+y).t_1

Where t1=2.5 hours. Substituting values:

20=(x+y)*2.5

Rearranging, we find the downstream equation:

2.5x+2.5y=20\qquad[1]

The speed when rowing upstream is x-y, and the distance traveled is

d=(x-y).t_2

Where t2=5 hours. Substituting values:

20=(x-y)*5

Rearranging, we find the upstream equation:

5x-5y=20\qquad[2]

Multiplying [1] by 2:

5x+5y=40

Adding this equation to [2]:

10x=60

Solving:

x=60/10=6

Dividing [2] by 5:

x-y=4

Solving for y

y=x-4=6-4=2

Thus, Roberto's speed in still water is 6 miles/hour and the river speed is 2 miles/hour

An ant weighs 2 x 10^-3 grams, and a lion weighs 1 x 10^5. The lion's weight is 5 x 10^x times greater than the ant's weight. Wh
julsineya [31]

Answer:

x=7

Step-by-step explanation:

Information provided

Weight of ant=2*10^{-3} grams

Weight of lion=1*10^{5} but units are not provided, assuming this unit is also grams

How many times lion's weight exceed an ant

\frac {1*10^{5}}{2*10^{-3}}=50000000

=5*10^{7}

Therefore, the value of x=7 if the unit for weight of lion is assumed to be same as unit for weight of an ant

HEY GUYS I NEED THIS ANSWER NOW
Sergio [31]

Let

x-------> the number of fiction books

y-------> the number of nonfiction books.

we know that

x+y=26 -----> equation 1

x=y+12

x-y=12 -----> equation 2

Add equation 1 and equation 2

x+y=26\\x-y=12\\ ------\\ 2x=38\\ x=38/2\\x=19\ fiction\ books

<u>find the value of y</u>

x+y=26

19+y=26

y=26-19=7\ nonfiction\ books

therefore

<u>the answer is</u>

Part a)  the number of fiction books is 19\ fiction\ books

Part b)  the number of nonfiction books is 7\ nonfiction\ books
