Why do you think that Lincoln wrote that the Nebraska policy would be unable to

History

When Illinois Senator Stephen A. Douglas compelled the Kansas-Nebraska Act's passage, Lincoln was a little-known former congressman who was actively practicing law. Although Lincoln and Douglas had been friends for almost 20 years, the act to organize the massive northern portion of the Louisiana Purchase made them enemies in the eyes of the American people.

By repealing the Missouri Compromise's 1820 ban on slavery above the 36' 30 parallel, the Kansas-Nebraska Act reignited the debate over the spread of slavery. To organize the regions for settlement and to enable the building of a transcontinental railroad, Douglas believed the modification was required.

According to Lincoln, the shift undid years of established national policy that had put slavery on the verge of "final destruction.

Lincoln believed that the "equality clause" of the Declaration of Independence, America's founding document, was inextricably linked to the future of Kansas. Lincoln was adamant that the Founders wanted to abolish slavery gradually. The Kansas-Nebraska Act's passage put slavery on the path to growth rather than its eventual abolition.

For Lincoln, slavery was unbearable because it was morally wrong. Slavery was politically undesirable because it violated the Declaration's tenet that "all men are created equal."

The formation of the state of Israel A) took place after the end of World War II. B) occurred prior to the end of World War II.
Julli [10]

Answer:

A) took place after the end of World War II.

Details/context:

Jewish immigration into the Palestine region had been happening since the end of the 19th century and escalated in the early 20th century. The pressure for Jews to leave Europe escalated when the Nazis came to power in Germany. Then the Nazis went from persecuting Jews to a plan to annihilate them. The orders for the "Final Solution" (as they termed it) came in 1941 -- to kill all the Jews. The Holocaust was a systematic mass slaughter of European Jews and others in Nazi concentration camps. Adolph Hitler also commanded that all Jews in Russian territories be slaughtered when German troops began their invasion of Russia in 1941. The world became more sympathetic to the plight of the Jews after the horrors of the Holocaust became known.

After World War II ended, the United Nations (UN) adopted a plan for the partition of Palestine that would create a portion of that territory as the state of Israel. Arabs in the region and surrounding Arab nations were not in favor of this. On May 14, 1948, the Jewish leaders in the land proclaimed their independence as a nation, and a war with Arab peoples and nations in the region followed. Israel won that war and established itself as a nation. The new state of Israel was granted membership in the UN in 1949.

This event did also honor the Canadians soldiers that sacrificed their lives during that conflict that took place between 1914 and 1918.
