The European Union lets the citizens of the countries in the EU have freedom and human dignity, which is more than most countries have to offer to their citizens. The EU is a surprisingly good method of maintaining peace in the European countries, or, at least for the ones in the EU, such as Belgium, Germany, Greece, or Italy.
