Animals classified as nocturnal generally sleep during the day and are awake at night. Due to the intense heat during the day, the majority of animals that sleep during the day reside in the desert.

What kinds of creatures are nocturnal, for instance?

Animals that are active at night include hedgehogs, foxes, owls, bats, and aardvarks, to name a few. Nocturnal animals bodies have developed to help them survive since they are awake while it is dark outside.

For instance, nocturnal animals have excellent hearing, sight, and scent to avoid predators and locate their prey.

The only nocturnal monkeys in the Americas are owl or night monkeys. They are color blind yet have huge eyes that allow them to see quite well in the dark.

Nocturnal Animals:

Imagine being awake at midnight and going about your daily activities. Can you picture going to school, having lunch at midnight, playing with your friends, and communicating with your family? To some of us, that might appear strange, yet nocturnal creatures are accustomed to living in such manner.

Animals that are nocturnal are up and energetic at night and sleep during the day. Even though most nocturnal creatures spend the day sleeping, some of them can be seen during the day. Animals that are active at night include owls, bats, skunks, and aardvarks.
