Runners have a lower production efficiency when running a long-distance race than when they are sedentary because they need energy obtained by acid lactic fermentation.

<h3>What is acid lactic fermentation?</h3>

Acid lactic fermentation is a type of cellular metabolic pathway to obtain energy in the form of ATP that is less efficient than cellular respiration in terms of ATP generation.

In conclusion, runners have a lower production efficiency when running a long-distance race than when they are sedentary because they need energy obtained by acid lactic fermentation.

Why does the twilight zone of the ocean have the greatest variation in temperature?
daser333 [38]

This is because twilight or mesopelagic zone (extending from 200 meters to 1,000 meters) is the zone that contains the thermocline.

A thermocline or the thermal layer is a layer in an ocean or lake where the temperature changes more rapidly with depth than in the other layers. The thermocline in twilight zone divides the upper mixed layer from the calm deep water below.

Tay Sachs is a disease caused by a mutation in a gene that codes for an enzyme used to break down complex molecules. Patients th
Angelina_Jolie [31]

Answer:

Based on the given information , the cellular structure , which don not function properly in Tay Sachs disease  is <u>Lysosomes </u>

Explanation:

<u>LYSOSOMES -:</u> In many animal cells, a lysosome is a membrane-bound organelle. These are spherical vesicles containing hydrolytic enzymes that can break down many types of biomolecules.  A lysosome, with both its membrane proteins and its lumenal proteins, has a particular composition. There are a number of enzymes in lysosomes, helping the cell to break down different biomolecules that it swallows, including peptides, nucleic acids, carbohydrates , and lipids (lysosomal lipase). For optimal function, the enzymes responsible for this hydrolysis need an acidic environment.

<u>TAY SACHS DISEASE -:  </u>The autosomal recessive disorder Tay-Sachs is caused by mutations in both gene alleles (HEXA) on chromosome 15. HEXA codes for the enzyme β-hexosaminidase A alpha subunit. This enzyme is contained in organelles, lysosomes, which break down large molecules for the cell to recycle.

Normally, β-hexosaminidase A helps to degrade a lipid called ganglioside GM2, but the enzyme is absent or present only in very small amounts in Tay-Sachs individuals, enabling excessive accumulation of ganglioside GM2 in neurons. In the different types of Tay-Sachs, the progressive neurodegeneration seen depends on the speed and degree of accumulation of GM2 ganglioside, which in turn depends on the amount of functional β-hexosaminidase A present in the body.

Hence , the answer is<u> lysosomes .</u>

What are seen in the thremosphere
rjkz [21]

The thermosphere is a layer of the earth's atmosphere directly above the mesosphere and below the exosphere. It extends 56 miles to  about 621 miles above the earth.

It is in the thermosphere that auroras are seen. An aurora is luminous atmospheric phenomenon appearing  as streamers or bands of light sometimes visible in the night sky in northern or southern regions of the earth. It is thought to be caused by charged particles from the sun entering the  earth's magnetic field and stimulating molecules in the atmosphere.
