In Harrison Bergeron, what new problems were created?

English
1 answer:
Tcecarenko [31]1 year ago
3 0

In Harrison Bergeron, new problems created were lack of wealth, its influence, and most crucially, the unequal distribution of wealth in our society. Vonnegut uses the United States' constitutional amendments and physical disabilities in his writing to illustrate his political viewpoint while also introducing new ones.

Harrison Bergeron serves as a warning to contemporary society regarding the issue of the pursuit of equality. According to Harrison Bergeron, many of the minute details that make each person unique and different are eliminated in the pursuit of equality.

Harrison and his Empress dance while floating to the ceiling after being moved by the music, stopping in midair to kiss. Harrison and the Empress are killed when Diana Moon Glampers, the Handicapper General, storms into the studio brandishing a ten-gauge double-barreled shotgun.

Harrison Bergeron was murdered in the TV studio by Diana Moon Glampers, the Handicap General. It was her shooting him in the studio that put social equality rules to the utmost test.

Long, unbroken pages of text show authority and draw the reader into the writing
Liula [17]
As a writer and reader I disagree with this. Perhaps if you are writing for a scientific journal or business report, long blocks of text can seem like you have a lot of info. Generally speaking, especially in fiction and non fiction i think unbroken pages of text will best case scenario bore a reader, worst case scenraio burden and overwhelm  them with a lot of info so the feel daunted about continuing.

A metaphor depends upon the connotations of words representing the things being compared.
tatuchka [14]
This is true. Metaphors usually have referencing meaning and not a direct literal one. This direct literal meaning is called the denotative meaning, which is opposite to the connotative meaning.
