There is only one solution to the nonlinear system.

What is Nonlinear system?

A nonlinear system is a system in which the change of the output is not proportional to the change of the input.

The solutions of a nonlinear system of equations are in the form of x and y values and these are the points at which the graphs intersect. Such systems have no solution, or one or more solutions.

So, here function 1 is a parabola and function 2 is a straight line. The parabola is touching the straight line at one point only, so this has one solution.

Hence the answer is there is only one solution to the nonlinear system.

We have

t_1 + t+2 = \dfrac{\sqrt{s}}{4} + \dfrac{s}{1100} = .5

Multiplying through by 1100,

275 \sqrt{s} + s = 550

275 \sqrt{s} = 550 - s

Squaring (which means we need to check later),

275^2 s = (550 - s)^2 = 550^2 - 1100 s + s^2

0 = s^2 - (1100 + 275^2) s + 550^2

0 = s^2 - 76725 s + 302500

s = \frac 1 2 (76725 \pm 1375 \sqrt{3113} )

s \approx 3.94285 \textrm{ or } s \approx 76721.0571

Clearly there's no way that giant number would work; must be extraneous.

The population of Jacksonville in 2018 is estimated to be 19,000 people with an annual rate of increase of 3.4%. Which equation
Umnica [9.8K]

Answer:

P=19,000(1.034)^{t}

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

P-------> the population of Jacksonville

t----> the number of years since 2018

we know that

The equation that models the population of Jacksonville in t years is

P=19,000(1+r)^{t}

we have

r=3.4\%=3.4/100=0.034

substitute

P=19,000(1+0.034)^{t}

P=19,000(1.034)^{t}
