The ability to respond to the ongoing demands of experiencing the full range of emotions in a way that is socially acceptable and sufficiently adaptable to allow for spontaneous reactions as well as the ability to delay spontaneous reactions as necessary is known as emotional self-regulation or emotion regulation.
Unconsciously, people employ coping mechanisms for challenging situations numerous times during the day.
We actively manage or control things like whether we attend to the gym, eat cake, or have a good attitude, for instance.
All students should be able to apply the following four fundamental self-regulation techniques: goal-setting, self-monitoring, using self-instructions or self-talk effectively, and self-reinforcing.
