Kambili feels frustrated in this paragraph because all the people who were dear to her were now leaving the country. Her aunt and children were going to America while Father Amadi was going for an assignment in Germany.

 • The plan for Kambili and Jaja was for them to go to the boarding house. Father Amadi wanted to make this possible for them.

Why does Kambili feel frustrated?

Kambili feels frustrated because of the movement of the people who she had come to love. Aunt Ifeoma had just been terminated by the university for speaking up on the various acts of injustice meted out to her and her colleagues.

Now that she applied for a visa to the American embassy, it meant that if approved, she would be leaving the country for the United States. Father Amadi whom Kambili loved also, was now leaving for Germany where he would serve as a missionary. All of these made Kambili feel conflicted.
