First of all, we already have crops the require less pesticide protection, their called GMOs (genetically modified foods). Second, burning power planets or fossil fuels, is highly toxic to the atmosphere and creates a negative impact on the environment. Moreover, I do suppose long lasting batteries would be cool and easier to use, but I still don't think they would have a big impact to humanity. Lastly, there are about 12.3 million American homes getting their energy from solar panels, and solar panels are a reliable energy resource, and doesn't cause any harm to the environment. So clearly, solar panels and wind turbines that cost less to build would have a huge impact on society.
