Read the passage from chapter 6 of animal farm. "you have heard then, comrades," he said, "that we pigs now sleep in the beds of

the farmhouse? and why not? you did not suppose, surely, that there was ever a ruling against beds? a bed merely means a place to sleep in. A pile of straw in a stall is a bed, properly regarded. The rule was against sheets, which are a human invention. We have removed the sheets from the farmhouse beds, and sleep between blankets. And very comfortable beds they are too! but not more comfortable than we need, i can tell you, comrades, with all the brainwork we have to do nowadays. You would not rob us of our repose, would you, comrades? you would not have us too tired to carry out our duties? surely none of you wishes to see jones back?" what is orwell ridiculing in this passage?.

Orwell ridiculed the Pigs that they are chosen to govern, and that animals took over the farm, he also talks about Pigs manipulating other animals,

In this excerpt from "Animal Farm," chapter 6, the author makes fun of the following:

Some leaders' hypocrisy.

  • George Orwell is the author of the well-known allegorical novella "Animal Farm."
  • The narrative uses the animals and their antics to criticize the Russian Revolution.
  • The Soviet authorities that duped the Russian people are symbolized by the pigs.
  • The pigs' actions and words in the chapter under discussion expose the hypocrisy of those leaders.
  • Other animals were kept underfed while being overworked by the pigs.
  • After spending long hours working on the farm, the animals had no comfort.
  • The pigs, on the other hand, not only had a comfortable life but also disregarded their own laws.
  • Though they had previously forbade it, they started sleeping in beds.
  • The pigs start to resemble the humans they hated at the beginning of the story more and more.
