The assignment wants to analyze your writing and persuasion skills. In that case, I can't write your essay, but I'll show you how to write it.

Essay structure

 • Introduction: Introduce the subject you will discuss in the essay. This must be done in a short paragraph.

 • Body: Write two long paragraphs. The first paragraph should show the arguments that show this matter in a positive light, showing what evidence supports this type of thinking. The second paragraph should show the arguments that negatively show the matter and also present evidence that supports this argument.

 • Conclusion: In a short paragraph, present the most relevant points of the two types of arguments and emphasize how this is a complex subject that can generate many similar and contrary opinions.

An example of a subject that you can present in your essay is the controversy over the use of vaccines. For this, you can show how vaccines are scientifically proven to combat diseases, however, many people do not trust their use because they do not know their formulation and how they act in the body.

Answer:

Mr. and Mrs. Sloane and Tom leave. They do not wait for Gatsby.

Explanation:

"The Great Gatsby" is a novel by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940) in which he explores themes such as the depravity of society and the decadence of the American dream.

The narrator is Nick, Gatsby's neighbor. Nick is cousin to Daisy, Gatsby's love interest. Daisy is married to millionaire Tom Buchanan, an unfaithful and brute man. Mr. and Mrs. Sloane are just minor characters who, like Tom and Daisy, are wealthy and shallow.

At a certain point in the story, Tom, Mr. and Mrs. Sloane are riding their horses when they stop by Gatsby's house to have a drink of water. Gatsby, unlike them, is new money. He does not come from a wealthy, traditional family. Thus, he is desperate to be accepted by the old money society. When Mrs. Sloane, out of politeness, invites Gatsby to dine with them, Gatsby accepts the invitation without realizing it was not serious. While he goes inside his house for a moment, Tom, Mr. and Mrs. Sloane leave. They do not wait for him to come with them. It is interesting that they find Gatsby's acceptance of the invitation to be rude, but do not care when they are rude to him themselves.
