The name of the dog that helped recover the world cup trophy after it was stolen in 1966 was Pickles.

Pickles was a black and white collie dog, known for his role in finding the stolen Jules Rimet Trophy in March 1966. This was just four months before the 1966 FIFA World Cup was scheduled to kick off in England.

The World Cup trophy was stolen on  March 1966 where It had been on public display in a glass cabinet during the  Stanley Gibbons Stampex rare stamp exhibition in Westminster. The thief managed to bypass the security and even ignored rare stamps with a value of million dollars to steal the silver-gilt trophy, which was thought to be worth less.

A telephone call to Joe Mears, chairman of Chelsea F.C. informed him that a package would be left at Stamford Bridge the following day. The package contained a £15,000 ransom, and the removable lining from the top of the trophy, and was given to the police, who arranged to meet the caller.  The police arrested a middleman who was used by the real culprit. Later they arrested the culprit who was sentenced for extortion of money and sentenced to two years imprisonment. I

The rest of the trophy was found, just seven days after it was stolen, wrapped in the newspaper by the front wheel of a parked car in Upper Norwood, South London, by the four-year-old Pickles, while taking a walk with his owner, David Corbett, as a reward it was invited to the celebration.
