Why do orcas like cold water?

Geography
1 answer:
malfutka [58]2 years ago

Orcas prefer cold water because it allows them to travel more swiftly than their ectothermic prey, which can slow down in colder water.

Although they may be located in warmer seas near the equator as opposed to arctic waters, these species appear to favor colder temperatures. Along with living in waters deep in the open ocean, orcas may also venture into semi-enclosed oceans, river mouths, and ice-covered regions.

Marine animals with warm blood, such as whales, can withstand frigid water temperatures. When whales descend to chilly depths and travel to frigid waters, such as those in Alaska, fat serves as an insulating layer to help them preserve energy and warmth.

In nuclear fusion reaction, some amount of reactant transform into a new atom because the mass of reactant is higher than the single atom while the remaining amount of reactant transform into energy. This reaction occurs in the sun which provides energy to the whole universe.

Why are Berg winds described as being dry
solmaris [256]

Answer:  The berg winds are described as being dry because of extensive heat in South Africa.

Explanation:

When the air that has been heated on the extensive central plateau flows down the escarpment to the coast it undergoes further warming by adiabatic processes. This accounts for the hot and dry properties of these off-shore winds, wherever they occur along South Africa's coastline.

Which natural event periodically weakens western surface ocean currents in the equatorial pacific ocean, resulting in a change i
densk [106]

El Niño is a natural event that periodically weakens the western surface of ocean currents in the equatorial pacific ocean. In an El Niño, the wind that pushes water around (which keeps the east warm and west cold) gets weaker making the ocean warmer, changing the air temperature and precipitation patterns in the United States.
