The way John Proctor sees himself as a sinner after committing adultery with Abigail is one of shame and repentance.

<h3>What happened in The Crucible?</h3>

This refers to the series of actions that occurs which culminate into false allegations and accusations of witchcraft after Abigail sets out to destroy the home and lives of John and Elizabeth Proctor.

Hence, it can be seen that John commits the sin of adultery and the way he feels is shame and remorse and he repents but is unable to tell his wife, but Abigail accuses them of witchcraft.
