The simple subjects and simple predicates are as follows:

1. Simple subject- treehouse, I
Simple predicate- was, wouldn't go

2. Simple subject- jars, I
Simple predicate- were, polished

3. Simple subject- They, others
Simple predicate- had come, were coming

4. Simple subject- jar, I
Simple predicate- glowed, held

5. Simple subject- They, jar
Simple predicate- blinked, glowed

Subjects refer to the topic or idea about which the entire sentence has been written. The remaining part of the sentence is the predicate.

Simple subjects refer to the noun or pronouns about which the sentence is written. We do not consider the adjectives describing the noun or pronoun to be a part of the simple subject.

Simple predicates refer to the verbs in the sentence. We do not take the entire remaining portion of the sentence as the simple predicate. We only consider the verb of the sentence.

The given sentences are compound sentences. Thus, they have two simple subjects and simple predicates. Both are of equal importance. In some sentences, the second simple subject is omitted. Thus, I have taken them as 'I.'
