Flavonoids are a group of natural substances which have a variable phenolic structures. They are found in grains, vegetables, fruits, bark, stems, roots, flowers, wine and tea.

In plants, flavonoids are the most important pigment for the coloration of flowers which helps in attraction of pollinators. In some of the higher plants, they are involved in UV filtration and symbiotic nitrogen fixation. They are also found in dark chocolate and have a multiple health benefits. They have positive effect on the heart, protect cells from oxidative damage and also have anti-inflammatory effects.
