Depletion of the ozone layer

What is
ozone layer ?

The ozone layer, also known as the ozone shield, is a region of the Earth's stratosphere that absorbs the majority of the Sun's ultraviolet radiation. It has a high concentration of ozone in comparison to other parts of the atmosphere, but it is still low in comparison to other gases in the stratosphere.
Ozone shields the Earth from the Sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. Life on Earth would be extremely difficult without the Ozone layer in the atmosphere. Plants and planktons, which provide food for the majority of ocean life, cannot survive and grow in high ultraviolet radiation.
Ozone, also known as O3, is a molecule composed of three oxygen atoms.
