Indeed, language influences the behaviors and thinking processes of the population that speaks it and my culture influences the way I sign.

How does language influence us?

Language affects to a great extend the way we perceive the word and we understand it. An example of this are the tenses we used in English language because these tenses help us to think about events as divided into the present, past and future and this might slightly vary in other languages.

How does culture influence ASL?

For many people, ASL is not their mother language, this means they already have specific points of view about the world influenced by their mother language.

This causes ASL is influenced, for example, if you are from a very open and expressive culture your movements are likely to be more distinctive.

How do Marcus’s words about needing to disembark contribute to the plot of The Sand Reckoner? Someone help I don't get the quest
vampirchik [111]
I am not aware of the story 'The Sand Reckoner'

Therefore, the question 'How do Marcus's words about needing to disembark contribute to the plot of The Sand Reckoner', means that there was a boat in the story of something similar to it.

Therefore, the character Marcus says that the other characters have to leave (disembark) the boat or the something similar to it.

Therefore how does this seem to change or help the plot in the story.

I hope this helped - Maria S.
