A long exposition differs from a typical stage direction because a stage direction is usually brief. An exposition, however, goes into more detail. A stage direction also just usually tells the setting or where or what the character is doing, or how the stage looks. An exposition shows history and goes full out on the setting.

The reason this is the answer is because the statement is not supported with any rhyme or reason as to HOW these diseases can be harmful, or even affect you at all.
"Freed from history" means that Mura's father was freed from being a slave, he was not ruled by the colony anymore. He was not a part of the history anymore.

Someone can be tied to History or freed from it when someone is not a part of any of the event that might have happened in the past. He or she can be tied or freed when there is no impact also of the events that have happened in the past.
