Why are Pre-Reading Activities Important?

Pre-reading activities help students prepare for the reading activity by activating the relevant schemata, and motivating them to read. Pre-reading activities can also help learners anticipate the topic, vocabulary and possibly important grammar structures in the texts.

Law Incorporation [45]
<span>It could be stated that both characters have a different perspective towards hunting and thay are, at least at the beginning, not alike. As regards Rainsford, who is an avid hunter, it might be said that he believes that men are superior to animals that is why they are preys because they do not have feelings. He sees hunting as a game. On the other hand, Zaroff also thinks that animals are preys and hunting is a game but he got bored of animals because they do not use logic. Shelia took the rap for her brother when he broke the antique lamp.
omeli [17]

Answer:

It is an Idiomatic expression.

Explanation:

An idiomatic expression is a phrase or group of words whose meaning cannot be deduced from the literal words used. In the sentence above, 'to take the rap', simply means to take the blame for an offense for which the individual may or may not be guilty of. So, Sheila was blamed or punished when her brother broke the antique lamp. The native speakers of a language are quite familiar with the idiomatic expressions in their language.

I knew that the phrase, 'took the rap', was an idiomatic expression because I could not easily deduce its meaning from just the literal words used. So I understood that there must have been a deeper meaning to it.

Select the correct texts in the passage.
Goryan [66]

Answer:

C) ranch.

D) limon

Explanation:

In literary terms, the setting of a story refers to the time and place where events in the story occur. Some words in the passage above gives the reader an idea of the place where the events in the story took place. The reference to the ranch which is a place where large animals like horses and cattle are reared helps the reader to know the setting of the story.
