Answer:

Longer hydrocarbon molecules have a stronger intermolecular force. More energy is needed to move them apart so they have higher boiling points . This makes them less volatile and therefore less flammable .

A vestigial-winged, hairy male is crossed with a wild-type female, homozygous at both genes. This F1 generation is crossed to pr
loris [4]

Answer:

The expected proportion of F2 individuals which are homozygous recessive at both genes is 1/16

All of the F1 generation will have the normal phenotypes for both genes

There will be no homozygous individuals in the F1 generation

Most of the F2 generation will have the normal phenotypes for both genes

Explanation:

A winged hairy male is crossed with a wild type female which is homozygous

Let the allele for vestigial trait be v

allele for wild trait be w

allele for hairy trait be h

Allele for non hairy be n

The genotype of parents would be

vvhh * wwnn

Thus in F1 generation all the offsrping will have  normal phenotypes for both genes

In F2 generation

vwnh * vwnh

Out of 16 offspring only one wil be homozygous recessive i,e

wwnn

Rest all 15 will have normal phenotypes.

Hence, the correct answer is

The expected proportion of F2 individuals which are homozygous recessive at both genes is 1/16

All of the F1 generation will have the normal phenotypes for both genes

There will be no homozygous individuals in the F1 generation

Most of the F2 generation will have the normal phenotypes for both genes

What would happen if the concentration of H+ ions were the same on both
iris [78.8K]

Answer:

A. H+ ions would not flow

Explanation:

Generally if the amount of a substance is equal on both sides of a semi-permeable membrane, nothing is going to happen unless active transport takes place.

However, in this case, nothing would happen since active transport doesn't seem to be used, as I've mentioned before.

Explain why a glycine residue at position 12 of the G protein Ras is only active in the presence of growth factors but Ras with
sasho [114]

Explanation:

At position 12 of G protein Ras there is a normal amino acid attached to it called Glycine. Which make Ras protein a highly controlled protein. However, there is another amino acid called aspartate at 12 position which make Ras vulnerable by the formation of weak GTPase enzyme activity and GTP binding. Which prevent Ras from turning off. This the reason why aspartate in oncogenic. Furthermore, weak binding of GTP has influence because its binding can not be hydrolyzed.
