what is the meaning of lit, as its used in this sentence.. It was in the clove of seasons, summer was dead but autumn had not yet been born, that the ibis lit in the bleeding tree.

It basically means the same thing as lit does mean, when something lights up (in the past tense), an ibis is a bird.
