A counterclaim is a claim that supports an opposing argument.

A counterclaim is also known as an opposing argument. It is an argument that fails to support an individual’s thesis.

Further Explanation

A counterclaim contradicts an individual’s thesis statement.

There are four parts of an argument, these include:

 • Counterclaims
 • Reasons
 • Evidence
 • Claims

An argument aims to persuade or convince, for example, if you have informed your parents that you need a new phone, you have made a claim. When you make a claim, it means that you are making your stance known, or you are establishing your main points. A claims state what an individual thinks is correct or true about an issue based on the knowledge and the research you have made about the topic.

So for your parents to get you a new phone, then you have to support your claim as to why the old phone is no longer useful to you

In your argument to acquire a new phone, if your parents fail to support your claim or they say No to your request, that’s your parent counterclaims.

Therefore, you have to give concrete reasons and support it with evidence to convince your parents, so that they can provide you a new phone.

Why are Sarah Goode and Sarah Osborne considered easy targets for the girls crying out against others “witching” them.
Ludmilka [50]

Answer:

Sarah Good was born to a prosperous innkeeper in 1653.However, her father's estate became entangled in litigation leaving Sarah Good in poverty. After the death of her first husband, she married William Good. The Goods lived a life of begging and poverty in Salem Village. Sarah was regarded as an unsavory person and has come to be regarded through literature as the stereotypical witch, a disreputable old hag. Good was among the first three women accused of witchcraft in 1692 and was the first to testify. She never confessed guilt, but, like Tituba, she did accuse Sarah Osburne, an act that was credited with validating the witchcraft trials and accusations. Good was hanged as a witch on Tuesday July 19, 1692,but not until after the imprisonment of her six year old child Dorcas, also accused of witchcraft, and the tragic death of her infant in prison. In February of 1692, Sarah Osborne became one of the first three victims to be accused of witchcraft in Salem Village. As the widow of Robert Prince-a Salem Villager who purchased a 150-acre farm next to his friend Captain John Putnam's, Osborne was required (by Prince's will) to carry-over their estate to their two young sons. However, by attempting to overtake possession of the property for herself and her new husband, Irish immigrant Alexander Osborne, Sarah Osborne upset social norms that consequently resulted in accusations of witchcraft by the Putnam family. She died in prison on May 10, 1692.

Tcecarenko [31]

Answer:

Hunter asked, "What is going to happen with this crazy weather?".

I'm assuming you're improving the sentence. commented should be replaced with asked, since he is asking a question. Then you just have to add punctuation to the dialogue.

Read the adapted excerpt from the poem “On Imagination” by Phillis Wheatley.
jeyben [28]

The speaker compares “Imagination” in the poem, to a soaring bird through a variety of forces in the universe. He believes, that there are a lot of advantages of having an imagination, it keeps you sane and your ideas can spread like wildfire through the process. Thus, option "A" is correct.

What is the theme of the poem "On Imagination"?

In the poem "On Imagination" by Phyllis Wheatley, imagination was compared to that of a soaring bird probably because the bird can reach the highest of mountains, the clouds and even beyond the sky. Just like the imagination, the bird is limitless and with no boundaries. The bird can see everything up and out there that cannot be seen by common folks much like the imagination wherein everything is possible and anything and everybody exists.

The bird just like the imagination flies so high to the vast outer space seeing wonders and beauties as they travel and fly leaving those in time when the imagination needs to go back to reality and the bird to his home.

Thus, option "A" is correct.
