One way Shakespeare transformed the plot of Pyramus and Thisbe into Romeo and Juliet is that they were neighbors. In Romeo and Juliet, the families just hated each other. While Romeo and Juliet is a similar story, Pyramus and Thisbe got to communicate to each other through a small hole in the wall. Romeo and Juliet actually had to sneak out to see each other.
