Answer:

b. he carved bold designs into a smooth block of wood

Explanation:

Albrecht Dürer's work (1471-1528) includes sixty canvases, over one hundred metal engravings, about 250 woodcuts and 1,000 drawings, and three printed books. Two of them were published in life: 1525 Instruction for Ruler and Compass Measurements and 1527 Treatise on Fortifications. The book on the Proportion of the Human Body came out shortly after his death in 1528. Among the most celebrated works produced Dürer highlights The Apocalypse, a series of 15 dramatic woodcuts, considered one of the greatest creations of German art. Such work brought the 27-year-old artist wealth and fame throughout Europe, having been published in Latin and German at Nuremberg in 1498.

Why are the physical representations of LeWitt's work usually temporary?
ehidna [41]

Answer:

This meditation on transitory art begins with Sol LeWitt. His

conceptual art is representative of a large strain of creative endeavors that emerged after 1950. To this day it engages artists, gallerists, collectors, and museum curators worldwide. "Ownership" of

his art was not always evidenced by possession of a physical object

like a painting or a sculpture, but by possession of documents-a

certificate of authenticity and a diagram in the case of LeWitt. Together these documents contained (typically partial) instructions on

how to fabricate or install his work. Possession of a certificate and

diagram gave their owner a guarantee of provenance and the authority to arrange for installation of the work with the artist or the

artist's successors in interest-nothing more.' In addition, the actual installations of such works typically were not accomplished by the artists who made the certificates and diagrams, the artists as temporary, movable, or destructible after their installation. Such projects were distinctly different from routine art sales by galleries or auction houses. Rather than obtaining a painting or

sculpture, a buyer obtained only the right to seek its creation and

installation. It was the creative plan that was the artistic product,

not an extant creative work.

What were the reasons for the nickelodeon boom of the mid 1900s—what advantages did this type of exhibition venue offer to both
koban [17]

The nickelodeon was a type of indoor exhibition space that was dedicated to showing projected motion pictures. These can be considered the beginnings of cinemas. Nickelodeons were cheap (they charged a nickel) and were particularly popular in the early and mid 1900s. This was due to several advantages.

First of all, nickelodeons were very affordable, which made them appealing to a wide audience. This came at a time when the urban middle class was rising. Moreover, these theatres offered a continuous selection of short films, which meant that they provided leisure activities at almost any time. The owners relied on "film exchanges" to have access to a wide variety of new films. This meant that the same audiences would keep coming back, as the content provided was new. This was a great advantage to the patron.
