Hi there!

This is super easy to understand, so let me help you out a little, since it looks like you don't know how to figure this out. :)

8 + (n - 1) 6

Remember PEMDAS! It's your best friend when it comes to math.

So, we see what is in the parenthesis first. n - 1 is in the parenthesis. Now, since we know already that n = 10, we can replace that n with the new known value.

Doing what is in the parenthesis now, 10 - 1 = 9. Set the 9 aside.

Now, a number on the outside of a set of parenthesis means to multiply. In this case, the 6 is outside of the parenthesis.

So, 9 × 6 = 54, right?

Finally, we can add the remaining 8 to the 54.

54 + 8 = 62.

Your final answer? 62!

Hope this helps!

Send me a message if you need anymore help with anything! :D

The total surface area of this cuboid is 112cm squared find the value of x
soldier1979 [14.2K]

Answer:

x=2\sqrt{\frac{14}{3}}\ units  or  x=\frac{2}{3}\sqrt{42}\ units

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The surface area of a cube is equal to

SA=6x^{2}

where

x is the length side of a cube

In this problem we have

SA=112\ cm^{2}

substitute in the formula and solve for x

112=6x^{2}

x^{2}=112/6

square root both sides

x=\sqrt{\frac{112}{6}}\ units=2\sqrt{\frac{14}{3}}\ units=\frac{2}{3}\sqrt{42}\ units

You have 2000 grams of substance A which has decay constant 0.03, and you have 3000 grams of substance B, which has decay consta
joja [24]

Answer:

If you have a quantity X of a substance, with a decay constant r, then the equation that tells you the amount of substance that you have, at a time t, is:

C(t) = X*e^(-r*t)

Now, we know that:

We have 2000g of substance A, and it has a decay constant of 0.03 (i assume that is in 1/year because the question asks in years)

And we have 3000 grams of substance B, with a decay constant of 0.05.

Then the equations for both of them will be:

Ca = 2000g*e^(-0.03*t)

Cb = 3000g*e^(-0.05*t)

Where t is in years.

We want to find the value of t such that Ca = Cb.

So we need to solve:

2000g*e^(-0.03*t) = 3000g*e^(-0.05*t)

e^(-0.03*t) = (3/2)e^(-0.05*t)

e^(-0.03*t)/e^(-0.05*t) = 3/2

e^(t*(0.05 - 0.03))  = 3/2

e^(t*0.02) = 3/2

Now we can apply Ln(x) to both sides, and get:

Ln(e^(t*0.02)) = Ln(3/2)

t*0.02 = Ln(3/2)

t = Ln(3/2)/0.02 = 20.3

Then after 20.3 years, both substances will have the same mass.
