Un Chien Andalou (An Andalusian Dog) is a famous surrealist silent short film from 1929. It was done by Spanish film director Luis Bunuel and a famous surrealist painter, Salvador Dali.

As surrealist art often does, the film in question uses avant-garde ideas, uncommon and absurd imagery, and often fantastical and shocking ideas and themes. Un Chien Andalou doesn’t have a real plot, but it is rather a collection of scenes without chronology, often featuring bizarre and dream logic.

The film was very successful and well-received by the audience at the time. It remains one of the most famous examples of surrealist cinema.
