The answer is faking illness because some of the slaves thought that if they'll make a fake illness they will be brought home. Some just wanted to run away.

I hope this helped!!!:)

how did support for the suffolk resolves by the continental congress push the colonies close to war ?
Juli2301 [7.4K]
The Suffolk Resolves was a declaration that was made on 9 September 1774. The leaders of the Suffolk County Massachusetts were unhappy with the Massachusetts Government act and decided to boycott all imported goods from Britain. These Resolves are seen as a major development in the American settlers unhappiness to colonial rule. This unhappiness ultimately resulted in the development and adoption of the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration Of Independence stated that the thirteen states making up the USA considered themselves independent of Great Britain and were at war with Great Britain.

Makovka662 [10]

Answer: D

Replace the underlined clause

Part of the proposed increase in state education spending is due to higher enrollment, since the number of students in public schools have grown steadily since the mid-1980's and, at nearly 47 million, are at a record high

A) enrollment, since the number of students in public schools have grown steadily since the mid-1980's and, at nearly 47 million, are at

B) enrollment, with a number of students in public schools growing steadily since the mid-1980'and, at nearly 47 million, reaching

C) enrollment: since students in public schools have grown steadily in number since the mid-1980's and, at nearly 47 million, have reached

D) enrollment: the number of students in public schools has grown steadily since the mid-1980's and, at nearly 47 million, has reached

E) enrollment: students in public schools have grown steadily in number since the mid-1980's and, at nearly 47 million, are at

Explanation:

D replaces the underlined clause.

A is not the answer because it is just a repetition of the underlined words.

B. This clause does not replace that underlined. A number of students suggest "some students" and does not refer to the body of students as a whole. Also to be grammatically correct, the clause has to end with "reached"

Neither Options C not E is the answer as omitting "the number" results in failing to quantify "students"

The amendments that lowered the voting age to eighteen and gave women the right to vote were
artcher [175]

Answer:

The Nineteenth Amendment and the Twenty-sixth Amendment

 • The 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote.
 • The 26th Amendment lowered the voting age from 21 to 18.

Context/details:

19th Amendment

The 19th Amendment to the Constitution reads as follows:

 • The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
 • Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

The proposal to add such an amendment was first introduced in Congress in 1878, but Congress did not pass the amendment till 1919 -- after the experience of women taking on greater roles in the country during the First World War. The amendment achieved ratification by a sufficient number of states and was added to the Constitution by August, 1920.

26th Amendment

During the 1960s in America, protests against the Vietnam War were active on college campuses across the country. Part of those protests were the demands of young people chanting, "Old enough to fight, old enough to vote." Since 18 was old enough to be drafted to fight in the war, young people argued for their right to vote as full citizens.

The 26th Amendment was passed by Congress on March 23, 1971. It was ratified by the states faster than any other amendment, achieving ratification by July 1, 1971.

The 26th Amendment is worded as follows:

 • Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.
 • Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
