The joint is called pivot joint. it is connected to your neck which allows you to turn your head.

 the occipital bone form the altanto -occipital joint which allows your neck flexion , when ya nod its called neck flexion , but in other ways for your head to move around the pivot joint which is in your neck allows you to turn your head
