What changing status of women took place for women in the united states from past world war II to now?

Women started joining the workforce much more. It was expected of women to be housewives and not work before world war 2 but everything changed after the war. Second wave feminism encouraged them to be independent and get jobs and participate in the society and do what they want, not what the society expects them to do.
