The setting shown of this excerpt is an old, dingy, atmosphere which was a little scary also.

In the Fowl in the pot which was written by Stanley J. Weyman, the setting that has been shown is not very pleasant. It gives the feeling of quite an old room which is dingy.

I think it depends on who the writer/speaker is aiming their words towards; if it is a children's audience, I'm fairly positive that they won't use adult language, and vice versa for adults.
