The brain is the main control centre of the body which is divided into three portions: the upper forebrain, middle midbrain and the lower hindbrain.
The hind-brain present in the lowest portion connects the brain with the spinal cord which consists of the pons, medulla oblongata and brainstem. The brainstem consists of the thalamus and hypothalamus which helps in coordination of the transmission of the signal from the brain to the body. It controls important functions of the body like breathing, digestion, walking and several other important functions.
