Answer:

Losing your consciousness or mind while on a journey and feeling tempted by a beautiful, peaceful and seemingly timeless place to abandon your duty.

Explanation:

The breakdown of the relationship between noos and nostos. These two Greek words are derived from the same root; noos means 'mind' or 'thinking', while nostos means 'homecoming'.

For one to achieve his homecoming, one has to be mentally focused on it; that is to say, one's noos must be attached to one's nostos and work for it and alongside it.

The sailors who ate lotus forgot themselves and their journey, they lost their noos that is. Thus, they could not find their way home nor did they want to; they had been deprived of their journey too. If it were not for Odysseus, they would have been lost there forever.
