The Mongols were able to facilitate trade, travel and communication throughout Eurasia by offering well-protected roads that were free from bandits or other dangers. They also encouraged travel and trade by having a positive attitude towards merchants and commerce. Unlike the Chinese they viewed commerce as a good thing to have in their empire.
