There are powers that only the state governments have (reserved powers). There are also powers that only the federal government has (exclusive powers). Exclusive powers means that only one group of people or person has the ability to enact them. In the United States, an example of this would be how the federal government has powers that no other groups have the ability to use.

An example of an exclusive power is when the federal government levies tariffs on imports.

Exclusive powers can be defined as the powers reserved solely to the federal government and not the states. The U.S. Constitution states the rights to levy tariffs on imports as one of them. Such tariff is paid to the Customs and Border Protection, which it's the customs authority of the U.S.

What is a group within a country promoting its own interest? sect clan faction patriarch
natka813 [3]
The answer is Faction.

Factions are described as pockets of organized dissent within a larger group, especially in the context of politics.

However, two political parties competing in a general election is NOT an example of a faction.

A single political party, breaking into two, on the basis of divergent views and objectives is a classic example of a faction.
