The first figure has 3 line segments.

the second figure has 3+3 =3*2 =  6 line segments

the third figure has 3+3+3 = 3*3 = 9 line segments

the fourth figure has 3+3+3+3=3*4=12 line segments...

so it is clear that:

the 20th figure has 3*20=60 line segments.

What radius of a circle is required to inscribe a square with an apothem of 3.536 inches?
prisoha [69]

Answer:

The radius of the circle required is 5 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The diagonal of the square is the diameter of the circle

The length side of the square is half the apothem

Let

a ----> the apothem

r ---> the radius of the circle (half the diagonal of the square)

Applying the Pythagorean Theorem

r^2=a^2+a^2

we have

a=3.536\ in

substitute

r^2=3.536^2+3.536^2

r^2=25\\r=5\ in

Find a point-slope form for the line with slope 1/5 and passing through the point (-6,-9).
Elenna [48]

Answer:

y=1/5x-39/5

Step-by-step explanation:

y=mx+b (slope y intercept formula)

y=1/5x+b

take (-6,-9) and put in appropiate places

-9= -6/5+b

*multiply lhs and rhs by 5

-45= -6+5b

-45+6=5b

-39=5b

-5b=39

b=39/-5

y=1/5x-39/5

The difference of two numbers is equal to 0.6. Their quotient is also 0.6. What are the numbers?
Murrr4er [49]

Solution:

we are given that

The difference of two numbers is equal to 0.6.

Let the numbers  be x and y so we can write

x-y=0.6......(i)

Their quotient is also 0.6.

so we can write

\frac{x}{y} =0.6.....(ii)

Now solve these two equations together we get

0.6y-y=0.6......(i)

-0.4y=0.6

y=-3/2=-1.5

x =0.6+y

x =0.6-1.5=-0.9

Hence the numbers are -1.5 and -0.9
