what ways does Sexton's poem evoke the starry night painting? what parts of the painting does she emphasize?
mario62 [17]

Sexton's poem starts with a quote from Van Goh.

It emphasizes the "eleven stars" and the "hot sky". It depicts the tree in the painting as if made of hair.

Explanation:

Sexton mentions plenty of aspects of the painting “Starry Night,” Drawn by Vincent painter. There are terribly specific elements of the paintings that area unit mentioned, creating the relation quite easy. The allusions are the eleven stars, the moon, and therefore the tall tree that captures the viewer 1st. Anne mentions, however, the city doesn't exist. I feel she is pertaining to, however, the stress isn’t on the city however rather everything else that's encompassing it. This was conjointly the purpose of the painting, to create the city appear terribly insignificant. truth stress is on the tree that stands tall and therefore the night sky because the title of the each them literary composition and therefore the painting infers.

Should Dorian Gray still be read today? Or should Dorian Gray be a banned book from high school classrooms? Explain
Marat540 [252]

Dorian Gray should absolutely be read today. Its themes of morality, narcissism and guilt are more relevant than ever. Youth has never been valued more highly: our society is one in which old age is almost always portrayed in a negative light, in which many products and services are sold with the goal of delaying or desguising the signs of age. There is no natural acceptance of the cycles of life, of old age as a worthwhile stage with its own particular pleasures. The only pleasures and virtues are those of youth: beauty, energy, impetuousness are valued while wisdom and serenity are not. Dorian Gray's story is the story of a man who sought to keep his youth and beauty at the cost of his morality. It's also the story of someone who could live life with no consequences: despite his crimes, his face preserved an angelical beauty, while his portrait paid the cost of his actions. Due to ever growing inequality, the rich nowadays can emulate Dorian Gray in more than one way, which makes his story all the more relevant.

Lena [83]

Answer:

Paragraph Function. Paragraphs are used to help your reader follow the logic of your argument. They should not be too long (generally speaking, paragraphs that are longer than 3/4 of a page are probably too long) or too short (one or two sentence paragraphs probably haven't given your reader enough information).
