28/ 7 + 2* 3

I would isolate both parts of the equation.

(28/7) + (2*3) =

4+ (2*3)=

4 + 6=

10.

Make sure to do the equation left to right for the correct answer.

Have a nice day!

A perfectly straight 24 ft tall tree grows on the edge of the bank of a 45 foot wide river. A bird sitting at the top of the tre
True [87]

Answer:

Distance covered by the bird before meeting the water is: 51.264 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Notice that if the bird catches the fish in 2 seconds, then the fish was able to dive down a total of 6 feet before being caught:

distance=Vel\,* time=3\,\frac{ft}{s} *\,2\,\,s=6 \,\,ft

So the bird needs to fly in the direction of the hypotenuse of a right angle triangle (see attached image) that has one leg of length (24 ft + 6 ft) = 30 ft, and another one 22.5 ft (half the width of the river.

Such hypotenuse is (using Pythagoras theorem):

hyp =\sqrt{(60\,ft)^2+(22.5\.ft)^2} =\sqrt{4106.25} \,ft=64.08\,ft

Now, in order to find the distance D the bird covers from the top of the tree to the water (marked in red in our image), we use similar triangles. The bigger triangle is that of legs 60 ft and 22.5 ft and hypotenuse 64.08 ft.

The smallest triangle we use in the proportion is the one shaded yellow in the image, which has one leg equal to 24 ft, and unknown hypotenuse:

So we make the proportion between known legs, and hypotenuses:

\frac{24\,ft}{30\,ft} =\frac{D}{64.08\,ft} \\D=\frac{64.08\,ft\,*\,24\,ft}{30\,ft} \\D=51.264\,ft

Can I have help I am stuck on this problem It would mean the world if u helped me and tysm!! =-)
Burka [1]

\large{ \boxed{ \tt{OUR \: ANSWER :  \underline{ \$ \: 583.3125}}}}

  • Well , You can solve this question using two ways. I'm gonna use the both ways to make you clear and the one which you can easily understand , pick up that way and start solving another question as similar as this one.

\large{ \tt{❃ \: FIRST \: METHOD }} :

This method is related to the unitary method. Let's start :

  • We're provided - Amount Kelly earns per hour for gardening = $ 12.75 and we're asked to find out the amount she earn if she worked 45.75 hours this month.

  • We know , Kelly probably earns more money if she worked 45.75 hours comparison to if she worked 1 hour. So You just multiply 45.75 & 12.75 , you would get $ 583.3125 and that's your final answer.

\large{ \tt{❃ \: SECOND \: METHOD}} :

This method is related to the proportion. If you haven't learned about it yet , use the above way to solve the similar type of questions. Let's start :

  • Let Kelly earns X dollars if she worked 45.75 hours this month. [ Now , See the attached picture ]

  • Here , we can see the time is increased which implies that money will surely be increased. Such type of proportion is called direct proportion.

  • Here , the ratio of time ( in hours ) = 1 : 45.75 and the ratio of amount ( in dollars ) = 12.75 : x . Now , Set up an equation and solve for x :

\large{ \tt{ ❁ \: \frac{1}{45.75}  =  \frac{12.75}{x}}}

\large{ \tt{↦ \: 1 \times x = 45.75 \times 12.75}}

\large{ \tt{↦x =   \$  \: 583.3125}}

  • Hence , She earned $ 583.3125 .
